you do remember birthdays

I have started to make a list of all the things I need would like to get done as far as art ideas, travels, and short term goals. This is not the first, nor the last time I will be making one of these lists. My life is organized on paper, always. I have a compulsion to write down everything in my head…while constantly carrying a weekly calendar, a sketchbook, a medium size lined notebook, and a pouch full of random drawing supplies in my bag at all times. This could explain the reason my bag weighs over 20 lbs on my shoulders.

A super excited thing happened to me the other day. My boyfriend is taking me to HAWAII!!! Honolulu to be exact. I love this boy!!!

It went like this: when I met my boyfriend I found out that he was a huge obsessed fan of the show LOST. When I met him, I had never seen an episode. For almost a year, we spent hours at his place and mine, watching every episode from season one until I was all caught up. I am now a fan of LOST, but not as obsessed as he is.

Because of the final season, premiering in only a few weeks…LOST fans were offered a special package deal. The deal includes airfare, hotel, a special screening of the first episode of Season 6 on the beach of Hawaii, a tour of where they filmed LOST, and hopefully meeting some of the cast! I am SUPER PSYCHED!!! I have a soft spot for Sawyer and Charlie so I am hoping one of them will be there.

Since we are going only for 4 days, I have decided to only take my small camera and a sketchbook. Last time I brought my camera on a plane, something happened to it going through the x-ray and the whole thing stopped working.

Speaking of LOST, my boyfriend is selling a limited edition print of art on Damon, Carlton, and Me. Check it out at http://www.youdorememberbirthdays.com/

too hot for computer

The lack of updates is due to the gorgeous weather and many trips I have been taking this summer. I am finally a graduate and got my teaching certification! The past few weeks of my summer have been great. This past weekend, the boy and I decided on a whim to go to Philly. I have been wanting to see the Mutter Museum for a while now. Saturday morning we woke up, booked a hotel, and started driving.

The trip was a ton of fun, and even though we were there for 2 days, we saw a plethera. It was restaurant week, or something like that, where certain very expensive restaurants serve 3 course price fixe meals for the weekend only. We happened to be there the same weekend. We ended up going to this house-like restaurant called Marigold Kitchen, which was probably the most flavorful meal I’ve had all year! Too bad we didn’t know it was BYO alchohol. Next Time.

Portland and the Circus

So I am planning a trip to Portland Oregon! I got a week off end of July and I can’t wait! I have been wanting to go there for some time, and a friend of mine who just got back basically made my decision to go. I’ll get back to you on details to come!

Anywhoooooo….
For the upcoming show in Setauket, I am working on some new pieces inspired by the book ‘Water for Elephants’ that I had just finished reading.  The opening is June 7th and the artists are myself and Michelle Posner. I will have between 10 and 20 pieces up so this is going to be a big show! Postcards will be available in the next week or two. Definately come out to this one because this may be my last show for the rest of the summer!

Below are some sketches, ideas, and some nonesense. And some guy reading on the train. ha
