the knew it was going to be windy that day…

lets-go-fly-a-kite.jpg

a new piece…with children. go figure. I started student teaching today. And my first impression was how clean the kids wanted to be. As soon as a tad bit of glue gets on their fingers…they immediately want to go wash their hands. This is not right. Not one bit. Blink.

Other than that the rest of the day went well, I even got a little “initiation” welcome by one of the little boys Jared. That’s going to have to be a story to tell in person. The day ended at a homeless shelter in the lower east side teaching homeless children some art projects. One extreme to the other.

Can’t wait for tomorrow.

balloons, kites, and hippos…oh my!

As I mentioned the other day, I had finally made it after 10 years to the Museum of Natural History. I already want to go back.

Another exciting event I had attended this weekend was the Mega Jam Balloon Festival out east of Long Island. I forgot my sketchbook but was able to take loads of photos during that gorgeous day. I will, however, make a HUGE complaint about the $25 admission fee on top of the $10 for a parking spot in a smelly field. I would have to say the highlight of my day was riding the Kamikaze and getting lost in a field of kites the size of my house. I also caught a little bit of Naughty by Nature playing OPP on my way out. Oh, yea….and the monster trucks!! The truck show wasn’t as big as actually going to a monster truck show…but there is definitely some sort of excitement and energy I get from watching huge wheelers pummeling cars and flying off ramps. I was in a bad spot in the sun so I didn’t get too many good photos. The day ended at a friends house for a party with the addition of White Castle on the way home. That last piece of information was highly regrettable.

the continuation of beginnings

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the show on Friday and Saturday, I had a blast! Nothing makes me happier than being with good people and surrounded by art. I took a break from thinking today to enjoy a walk in the woods and cooking dinner with the boy.

This past Friday was the last day at my job. It was sad but exciting to be moving on to bigger and better things. I have met some really great people, which I believe is the key to life. I cannot wait for the rest of this summer. August will give me more time to get caught up on many art projects I have planned out, along with tons of mini day trips and events. I am also going to try to get my website done and finished by labor day, which I always seem to push to the bottom of my list.

Lookout for new artwork at Painter’s Bar & Grill on August 24th, and the next shows at Lealand Eve and Genuine Artikle this September.

Sunsets and Parks

I have been a nomad for the past few days, but I am back and back to working. I have been taking a lot of photos of nature lately, and thought I would like to share some with you. I also met the famous JOHN WATERS this past week, and boy is that guy ridiculous!! I drew a few pictures of him and got him to sign them which was great, I will get those posted by tomorrow. Below are a few sunsets taken at West Meadow Beach, and some shots from walking through the woods on a really hot day.  sunset.jpg sunset2.jpg tree.jpgwater.jpg

i <3 the 70’s

So for my upcoming photo shoot project, I have the great pleasure of shooting one of my favorite bands, The Woolgathering. I am going to be going for an old, vintage type look in a great area on Long Island. They are very colorful people and we have a lot of colorful props that we are going to be using. I had recently done this photo below which is going to have the look I am going for. house.jpg  what do you think? Like the idea?

rainy monday

I have decided my official website needs major updating!! So in the next few months I will be coming out with a whole new site. I will still be updating on this blog so don’t worry! The new website will start under construction in June and hopefully finished by August.

I recently bought an infrared filter for my camer and took a few shots of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center. Below is a photo of the main building, and the other is of the grounds. I am beginning to love this filter! The b/w image almost looks as though there is snow on the ground. Comments please!

slow release

o I finally got around to editing some of the photos I took while out in Montauk. A few of these are going to be in the Small Works Show at Toast Coffeehouse in Port Jefferson on  Thursday May 15th. These photos remind me of the exact feeling I felt while out in Montauk. It was desolate and gray…and I loved it. Hope you enjoy these as much as I do. _dsc0035.jpg

home sick

Feeling crappy today so I stayed home to rest up. It’s so gorgeous outside! Played around with my camera in the backyard. Took some pretty interesting photos. Going to sew some wallets tonight so they will be up for sale soon! Below is Coco, my dog who just got an awful haircut and a bow tied around his neck: coco1.jpg
