Immediately I had a vision of the NYC skyline, and the Big Apple. I knew I wanted it to have a grunge type feeling, but wasn’t sure exactly how I was going to lay it out. I wish I still had my rough sketches, but they are lost somewhere in a pile of scrap paper. I started the logo in black and white, and later added minimal color, knowing that these would be silk screened onto tee shirts. I wanted to post both versions here so you could see the differences. I feel like I would need to tweak a few things on the colored version if the colored version ends up being used.

For a new series of work I plan on moving onto a tarot card series. I have wanted to move into my old roots of collage and grunge to create a set of images based on the major arcana. Originally I was going to create my own with new words, but for right now I am going to play on the existing profiles of the deck. I wanted to start with The Fool for a few reasons: One is that its the most representation of myself. The Fool is a card of new beginnings, traveling to places unknown, with infinite possibilities. He is also a daydreamer, oblivious to his surroundings. The keyhole in the image is the number zero. And if you know me well enough, you know I have a fondness of keys and keyholes.

I am going against using digital tools for this series. Just good ole’ music, hands, and whatever mediums and scraps I have in my studio. I am wondering which card I should work on next. Any suggestions?

From time to time a clownish/carnival/circus theme pops into my work. I think it stems back to this creepy clown from my childhood that used to sit on top of my dresser and watch me while I sleep. Seriously though, its a real clown doll, I didn’t make this up. I can’t even tell you where it came from and when, but I always remember having it. Sometimes if I look at a baby picture of me, I’ll see that clown in the background, sitting there holding his balloons. I’ll have to ask my parents about this sometime. (Knowing my mom, she will read this an immediately Facebook me) He sort of looks like the clown I drew below that I am selling on Etsy, except more colorful.

I’m starting to worry myself.

I am starting a series of Alice in Wonderland panels that I have been wanting to work on for quite a while now. They are going to debut at the Lealand Eve Boutique in September. If I can get my hands on some lighting equipment before the fall, I am going to try to work on some photo ideas I have had in mind.

About once every 5 hours, I get a piece of my dog’s hair in my eye. I wanted everyone to know that, because there is one in my eye right now.
