another day with LOST

Dharma Gear
Dharma Gear

A few weeks ago Jimmy and I went to see the LOST installation at the Vilcek Foundation in New York City. For any LOST fan, the experience was amazing. There were many props that were used throughout all six seasons, including the VW bus, the wheel to turn the island, and Sawyers glasses. While you walk around, there is a free book that includes information on every object in the show, just in case you weren’t sure.

For any of you that are still confused about the final season, I suggest you read Jimmy’s blog post to help you understand a bit more.

testing limits

Every morning on my way to work, I listen to NPR’s Radio Lab. The other morning, I was listening to an episode about human limits, mentally and physically. There was a segment in the episode that really got me. The section talks about The Race Across America, which, I am sure most of you have never heard of (at least I haven’t). It’s basically a race consisting of bike riders who LITERALLY ride their bike across the entire United States. Really. Non stop. Really. Here is a little bit of information from their website:

  • The route is over 3000 miles, touching 14 states and climbing over 100,000 feet. Teams typically cross the country in 6 to 9 days, averaging 350 to over 500 miles per day. Solo racers finish in 9 to 12 days, averaging 250 to 350 miles per day. Teams have a relay format and race 24 hours a day. Solo racers have the challenge of balancing a few hours of sleep each night against race deadlines

These riders (or maniacs I would think) ride their bike nonstop every day, rain or snow, sleeping for only 1 hour a day. If that’s not testing limits, then I don’t know what is.

If you are in need for any inspiration, I am highly recommending you listen to the episode. I had included the link above.

sugar sugar, ohh honey honey.

Hope everyone had a fantasmo Memorial Day weekend! My weekend involved the Bald Hill Fair, mini pig race, getting nauseous on rides, John Harvards beer, baby ducks on my lawn, playing baseball, BBQ party, wine, more wine, and just lots of good times. The best part of my weekend was going to this beautiful and secluded hummingbird sanctuary out east. The place was deserted, except for me, Jimmy, bumble bees, hummingbirds, and the ocean. I have a few pictures and drawings I will be uploading in the next day or so.

The newest painting is finished!! I won’t be posting the final image online until it’s released to the wild at the 1st Anniversary Genuine Artikle show June 20 from 7-11pm with live music and all new artwork.

Click on the image below to view the flier.

a few updates

Hello all!!

Just wanted to keep everyone updated on what’s new, what’s old, and what’s happening.

I am currently finishing up an illustration that was commissioned for the local newspaper. If you live on the  North Shore of Long Island, pick up a copy of the Times Beacon this coming Wednesday I believe.  Another painting will be finished for the 1st anniversary Genuine Artikle show. The painting is another piece from my Sugar Babies series. When I get more information on the dates to the show I will let you know ASAP.

Towards the end of June me and the class at SVA are holding an art show at the gallery on 21st street between 6th and 7th ave. There will be an opening reception, along with yours truly. It’s going to be a busy month!
